In 2018, we launched the "Wanzai Project" to produce high-quality Ramie cloth in Wanzai, China.
Wanzai is originally a production area of "Kibira Asa" with about 80-Jou ("Jou" is a word that refers to the density of weaving, and 150-Jou is the total number of warp and weft threads that fit in 1 inch m2), meaning 150 pieces).
Here, the project began by reviving the extinct variety of ramie called "tori no hone no shiro" in order to make high-quality thread for cloths.
The name comes from the fact that the fibers are white, just like chicken bones and soft.
We also devised Oumi(thread making : connecting fibers) so that there would be no steps at the joints of the threads.

Five years later, one piece of cloth was finally completed last year despite the coronavirus pandemic.
In accordance with traditional Chinese ramie cloths, we used untwisted threads for both the warp and weft.
This is a particularly beautiful piece of cloth made by joining the hands of many people in China and Japan.
